We take great pride in offering the highest standards of residential dementia care at our
homes. The level of care we give to each one of our residents is exactly what we would want
our own loved ones to receive. All our residents are encouraged to maintain their own
lifestyles in a way which reflects their own personal choices, enabling them to have as much
independence as possible.

Whilst we can’t take away the confusion of living with, or watching someone you love living
with dementia, we can help. Providing quality care and companionship, with mental,
emotional and physical stimulation, quality nutrition, in a safe and secure environment all
contribute to leading a more content life.

There are many different types and different levels of dementia that have varying
symptoms.  All our carers are fully trained in dementia care and work hard to get to know
the individuals well enough to enable us to support them with warmth, patience and
understanding and provide the right level of care tailored to their individual and often
changing needs.

We understand surroundings can make a huge difference to those living with dementia, so
we have incorporated several measures to help create a safer and happier environment for
our residents with dementia:

After a diagnosis of dementia, it is important to keep on enjoying the things that make us
happy in life.  Each home offers a full weekly calendar of activities, where our residents can
pick and choose those in which they wish to participate.  All our activities are developed in
line with varying abilities and interests, designed to keep our residents engaged, stimulated
and active or, perhaps, even intrigued – with the opportunity to try something new.

It goes without saying that food plays a pivotal role in promoting health and well-being, but
we also understand that dementia may cause changes in individuals’ relationships with food
due to a loss of appetite, changes in taste, difficulties in hand coordination or chewing
problems.  Our chefs are trained to cater for any diet or appetite, and they are truly
passionate about the quality of the food they serve to our residents.   They recognise the
importance of providing meals that are colourful and tasty to all of our residents, and will go
out of their way to make different dishes for residents whose appetites need tempting.
